Summer 2026 · Site
An evening on the site
Before there is a house, the family is learning the place on foot. One summer evening, the light moved across the rock from the quieter bay towards the open sea.

The house is not here yet. The place is.
On the edge of Antiparos, a house is slowly taking shape between rock, wind and sea. Akri House is being designed around the character of the land — the open horizon to the northwest, the calmer bay to the south and the stone already rooted in the site.

Four forces
ROCK
The architecture begins with what is already here.
WIND
Shelter and movement shape every outdoor room.
SEA
A dramatic horizon and a quieter bay.
LIGHT
From clear mornings to the last light in the west.
The house is planned for family and friends: generous shared spaces, different zones for different times of day, outdoor rooms that follow the wind and the sun, and places to withdraw when the day has been long.
Rooms, capacity and layout are not decided.

Akri House is our own house, created by Øystein Tynning and Johanne Taugbøl. Johanne is both co-owner and architect, working through Wood A+D in Oslo in close dialogue with React Architects in Greece. Together, the team is exploring how Nordic ideas about everyday life can meet Cycladic landscape, light, wind and building traditions.
